Election to the RSA

Mrs Ann Tate, the University of Ulster Pro-Vice-Chancellor (External Affairs) and Provost of the Jordanstown and Belfast campuses, has been elected to a Fellowship of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce (RSA).
Mrs Tate, who holds a MSc in Medical Sociology, joined the Ulster Polytechnic in 1974. Following the merger of the New University and the Polytechnic in 1984 she was promoted to Senior Lecturer and, in 1987, took up the position of Head of Department of Sociology.
In 1990 Mrs Tate was appointed to direct a joint University of Ulster/Training and Employment Agency initiative into enterprise in higher education which led to the establishment in 1994 of the University Educational Development Unit.
Mrs Tate took up her current appointment in 1995. She is involved in the oversight of all of the University's external affairs including media, public relations and marketing.
Mrs Tate is married with one daughter.
