Splash out at the Riverside this Christmas

3rd December 1998

This year's Christmas show at the Riverside Theatre is Big Telly Theatre Company's production of Charles Kingsley's The Water Babies.

This charming and playful fairytale tells the story of a chimney boy called Tom and his adventures in a magical underwater world where he meets a whole range of marine life - the silver salmon, the distinguished lobster, the wicked otter, shoals of water monkeys and talking fish.

Tom also learns some useful lessons from Mrs Bedonebyasyoudid (the world's ugliest fairy) and Mrs Doasyouwouldbedoneby (the world's most beautiful).

Big Telly are well known around the province for their excellent and innovative productions for children and adults. This show has already been enjoyed by hundreds of schoolchildren around the province, and this lighthearted adaption by Zoe Seaton features original funky music by Mike Horth and some energetic dancing choreographed by Jools Beech.

Early reports say that this is THE show to see this Christmas. Full of fun with plenty of opportunity for audience participation. Matinee and evening performances of The Water Babies are on until 27 December, and tickets are still available. There is a party discount of one FREE ticket for each ten tickets purchased and seats can be reserved by phoning the Riverside on 01265 51388 (24 hr message service).
