Teenagers Talk Peace, Reconciliation and Policing

More that 250 young people from Belfast, Ballymena, Larne and Londonderry/Derry will meet community leaders from the Falls and Shankill Roads in Belfast this weekend to talk about peace and reconciliation.

The young people, aged between 16 and 18 years, will be joined by teenagers from the Republic, Great Britain, the Middle East and Australia to discuss the issues from different perspectives.

The conference will be opened on Friday evening by the Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Marie Moore and a leading member of Australia's Aboriginal community.

On Saturday, the young people will get an overview of Northern Ireland's grassroots political agenda and vision from members of the Falls Community Council, the Greater Shankill Partnership, Enniskillen Together and the Peace and Reconciliation group in Derry/Londonderry.

There will also be workshops on the Commission for Equality, Human Rights and Policing and on the current situation in the Middle East.
