Coleraine Business Person of the Year

Professor Gerry McKenna, Pro Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of Ulster, has been awarded this year's Coleraine Business Person of the Year Award by Coleraine Chamber of Commerce. The award was made to Professor McKenna 'for his outstanding support for new businesses in Coleraine through the development of incubator units on the University campus and for his successful efforts in promoting Coleraine as a site for the Northern Ireland Science Park'. Professor McKenna described the award 'as a great honour which recognises the developing role of the University as a driving force for high technology economic development throughout Northern Ireland. It reflects also on the shared vision which has developed between Coleraine Chamber of Commerce, the Borough Council and other surrounding councils and the University'.
The award was conferred on Saturday evening past at the May Ball of the Coleraine Chamber of Commerce.
