Open Day at University's Coleraine Campus

15th June 2000

Several thousand pupils and teachers from schools and colleges across the province are to descend on the Coleraine campus of the University of Ulster.

The occasion will be the campus Open Day: a time when students studying for A Levels visit the location and view it as somewhere they may choose to go to university.

"It is an important time for the University, as we put ourselves on show for the students of the future.

"I think it is also important for the greater Coleraine, Portstewart and Portrush areas too, as many of these young people will be living and working in the community for many years to come," said the Admissions Officer, Dr Tony Barnhill.

The students will get a comprehensive tour of the University facilities and experience features as diverse as its television and radio studios and its Optometry Clinic.

Among the special arrangements for the day will be a performance by the Community Action Theatre.

The Provost, Professor Peter Roebuck, will give an address to careers teachers, in which he is expected to outline many of the recent and future developments planned for the campus
