UU in bid to boost north-west businesses

19th September 2001

A new training programme, specifically designed to meet the needs of the business community, will be introduced to the north-west this week through the University of Ulster’s Magee campus.

Learndirect learning for business aims to provide lifelong learning opportunities for everyone, offering a wide range of high quality, affordable business-related courses online and giving users complete flexibility to work where, when and at whatever pace they choose.

The programme, which has the support of the Department of Employment and Learning, offers courses to suit various skills and levels and are designed to meet the needs of both managers and employees.

The International Business Centre at Magee is holding a seminar to advise managers in the north-west how Learndirect learning for business can help their businesses.

"Learndirect learning for business will help all businesses in the north-west that have limited time and financial resources to engage in staff training and development," said Edel Griffin, International Business Programmes Co-ordinator.

"It offers these businesses a new way to learn, managers and staff can access their individual training courses online rather than having to attend training at a fixed time and place. It is a unique opportunity".

With over 400 hundred courses on offer, businesses have the ideal opportunity to access cost effective and comprehensive training courses covering basic skills, business and management and communication technologies.

The seminar will take place at 5pm on Thursday September 20th.
