Magnificent Music at Magee
20th September 2001
Following last year’s sell-out success, the University of Ulster and the Classical Music Society have joined forces again this Autumn to offer a second series of world, jazz, traditional and classical music concerts and educational workshops with the common theme of guitar.
Magee campus will be the venue for a series of Guitar Plus concerts, featuring some of the finest six-string talent ever seen in Derry city.
Ease into Autumn with a soothing start to the series, from Sean Woods and Sarah Murphy on Friday October 12th. This guitar and flute duo will lift the spirits of their audience as the dark evenings draw near with a blend of traditional and classical music pieces.
The Guitar Plus series blends traditional, jazz and classical music in an unparalleled autumn concert programme with artists of outstanding calibre.
The Magee campus is a firm favourite as a concert venue and the Guitar Plus series forms part of a rapidly expanding programme of arts and cultural events at Magee.
Kate Bond, Arts Development Officer for the University of Ulster said:
“We are delighted to offer the second series of Guitar Plus at Magee and we hope that this will now be an annual fixture in the cultural calendar for audiences in the north west”.
Carita Kerr, Chairperson of the Classical Music Society added:
“The Classical Music Society is very pleased to extend its partnership with the University of Ulster even further with these concerts. We look forward to an excellent line-up of musicians and capacity audiences once again”.
