The Ulster Scots - Appalachian Song Connection

The Institute of Ulster Scots Studies will be presenting a lecture and concert exploring the movement of Ulster songs to Appalacian America, at Magee this week.

Dr Adie Maher, a visiting scholar in Folklore, will deliver the presentation entitled: Crossing and Re-crossing the Ulster-Scots/Appalachian Song Connection.

Dr Maher is a poet and traditional musician from upstate New York who has been living in Co Donegal for the past year. She is currently exploring the links between Ulster/Appalachian music at the University of Ulster and will travel to Appalachia to continue her research.

Crossing and Re-crossing the Ulster-Scots/Appalachian Song Connection, will take place on Tuesday 16 December, 12-1.30pm, Aberfoyle House, Magee campus.
