UU Partnership To Bring More Chinese Students to NI

15th December 2003

A new agreement signed between the University of Ulster and the Community College, School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPACE) at the University of Hong Kong, means that students who complete associate degrees in Hong Kong will now be able to proceed to a range of bachelor degrees in the UU’s Coleraine-based Faculty of Life and Health Sciences.

Signed in Hong Kong last week, it is hoped that the new arrangements will bring more students from Hong Kong to study at the University’s Coleraine campus.

It’s planned to develop further articulation from associate degrees to undergraduate study in Arts and Business Studies with the Community College, one of the UU’s many partner institutions in Hong Kong and China.

Professor Gerry McKenna, Vice-Chancellor, said “The University’s relationship with SPACE at the University of Hong Kong is of long standing and considerable importance. This new cooperation is an important development that will enable students from Hong Kong to complete their first degrees at the University in disciplines that are internationally recognised”.

The agreement was one of a number signed with leading Chinese educational institutions during a recent visit to China by a UU delegation, led by the Vice Chancellor.
