UU Researcher Appointed To Equality Commission

Dr Derick Wilson, from the University of Ulster’s School of Education has been appointed a Commissioner with the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland.
With other Commissioners his responsibilities will include providing strategic direction for the Commission in the performance of its statutory duties.
The Commission works towards the elimination of discrimination and the promotion of equality of opportunity on the grounds of disability, gender, age, sexual orientation, race and religious belief/political opinion.
Dr Wilson is a Senior Lecturer in Community Relations and co-directs the Future Ways Programme – a learning, community support and research programme underpinning wider reconciliation practice within social, political and economic life in Northern Ireland.
