Rehearsals Get Off To A Festive Start At The Riverside Theatre
12th November 2003
Local school children took to the stage this week to begin rehearsals for A Christmas Carol at the Riverside Theatre, University of Ulster, Coleraine.
The play will be the first in-house production for the Riverside’s Artistic Director Andrea Montgomery and features two casts of children from the Coleraine area and a cast of actors from Belfast and London.
A professional writer/composer, choreographer, costume and sound and lighting designer have also been drafted in for the spectacular Christmas performance.
Artistic Director Andrea Montgomery said: “I’ve been looking forward to this from the first moment I arrived in Coleraine. In-house productions put the heart back into a theatre, and the Riverside is striking out with something different. A Christmas Carol aims to be a beautiful Christmas show, full of theatrical magic that will set it apart from run-of-the-mill Pantomime.
“With a cast that combines strong experienced professionals and local children I hope we will have the best of both worlds. The excitement and enthusiasm of talented child performers remind keep us all in touch with the spirit of Christmas.”
A Christmas Carol at the Riverside Theatre opens Monday 2nd December and runs Monday to Friday 2nd-5th, 8-12th, 15-19th, Saturday 6th, 13th, 20th and Mon 22nd-Tues 23rd December.
