Ireland’s best university volleyball players will descend on the University of Ulster at Jordanstown later this week for the annual Intervarsities Championships.

Teams from twelve universities and colleges from throughout the island will be competing for both the men’s and women’s titles.

The tournament begins on Thursday and runs through to Saturday when the finals will be played during the afternoon.

Spectators can watch the semi-finals and finals free.

Nick Wright, President of the UUJ Volleyball Club, said: “It is an honour to host the Irish Intervarsity Annual Volleyball Championships at the UUJ campus. It is the highlight of the year in university volleyball and is an excellent showcase for the sport, both for the players and spectators.

“We would especially like to thank our sponsors, The Wellington Park Hotel, First Trust Bank and Coca-Cola, who have made it possible for us to stage this event. We are confident of a high standard of play and would extend a welcome for everyone to come and enjoy the championships,” he added.
