The University of Ulster this week showcases an exciting new range of designer collections by Northern Ireland's brightest young fashion designers.
Walk this Way will be held in the NTL Studio, Waterfront Hall, and will offer a first glimpse of unique creations by eleven BA Hons Textile and Fashion students from the University's Belfast campus.
The annual event is held in high esteem by those in the fashion industry and acts as an arena for leaders in the trade to spot the best in upcoming talent.
The show promises to deliver a colourful extravaganza of fabrics and designs displaying a range of expertise including inspired knitwear, hand felting and embossed leather. The collections feature a range of unusual, light reflective yarns and fabrics from metallic leather to faux fur!
Top Irish fashion designers will also be previewing their latest collections, and include Adele Hickey and Miriam Mone from Dublin.
Janet Coulter, event organiser and Fashion Design lecturer at UU said: "The final year collections represent the culmination of three years of hard work by the students, which has included market research, commercial understanding, technological innovation and creative interpretation. This year the standard is very high, the students have excelled themselves and some graduates are off to work in Milan, and Shanghai after graduation. This is testimony that the quality of the students work holds up in the global arena.
"As always, the students' work has been motivated by a diverse range of themes such as hysteria, mental entrapment and dereliction to name but a few.
"This show is extremely important as it presents an opportunity for the students to show off their creative talents to the textiles and fashion industry and to the wider public - investment in today's students is extremely important as they are tomorrow's industry, and the positions that they have secured internationally clearly demonstrate this."
The evening show will take place at 7pm on Thursday June 3rd at the NTL Studio, Waterfront Hall, Belfast. An afternoon preview will be held at 3pm for schools and students.
Tickets for the show are available from the Box Office at the Waterfront Hall.
