Prize-winning Pianist Performs at UU

The acclaimed young pianist Ruth McGinley will present two lunchtime concerts at the University of Ulster next week.

Ruth attracted widespread public attention in 1994 when she was the piano final winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year. 

A graduate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance with First Class Honours in 1999.  She then went on to continue her studies at the Royal College of Music, London, where she was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance as a Solo Recitalist.

She is currently studying under Dr John O’Conor in the Artists Recital Programme at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and has taken up a teaching position at the University of Ulster.

Ruth will present work by Rachmaninov and Liszt as part of UU’s Lunchtime Concert Series on Monday 22 November in the Octagon, Coleraine campus and on Tuesday 23 November in the Great Hall on the Magee campus.

Lunchtime concerts start at 1.15pm and finish at 2pm.  Tickets are £3.00 and can be purchased at the door on the day.
