Research Award For Geologist
Professor Marshall McCabe, 59, has been awarded a Senior Distinguished Research Fellowship by the University of Ulster.
A native of Brookeborough, Professor McCabe has built a distinguished career as quaternary geologist, becoming a respected researcher and author. The Senior Distinguished Research Fellowship award recognises Professor McCabe‘s outstanding contribution to glacial geology and the study of global quaternary climate change.
Educated at Portora and Trinity College, Dublin, where he was awarded a DSc by thesis, he joined the former Ulster Polytechnic in 1971 as a lecturer in geology, becoming Professor of Quaternary Science at the University of Ulster in 1998.
A Member of the Royal Irish Academy, Professor McCabe is an author and contributor to numerous scientific publications in his field, including Nature and Science.
Professor McCabe is married with four children and lives in Jordanstown.
