Winter Graduations begin at UU
The University of Ulster’s Winter Graduation ceremonies get under way today at the University’s Jordanstown campus.
The Chancellor of the University, Sir Richard Nichols, will present degrees and diplomas to students from the University’s Jordanstown and Belfast campuses at today’s two ceremonies.
Today, students from the Faculties of Business and Management, Social Sciences, Arts, Engineering, and Life and Health Sciences, at the UU’s Jordanstown and Belfast campuses receive awards at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
The honorary degree of Doctor of Letters (DLitt) will be conferred on leading property developer Mr Gerard O’Hare at the morning ceremony.
Today’s ceremonies will also see special awards presented to:
- Senior Distinguished Research Fellowship: Professor Marshall McCabe
- Senior Distinguished Research Fellowship: Dr Arthur Aughey
- Distinguished Community Fellowship: Mrs Jackie McCoy
- Distinguished Teaching Fellowship: Ms Sandra Griffiths
- Distinguished Teaching Fellowship: Mrs Deborah Fraser
- Distinguished Research Fellowship: Dr Judy Bradley
In addition, Professor Joseph G Nellis will receive the First Trust Bank/University of Ulster Distinguished Graduate Award for 2004/05.
Tomorrow, the graduation ceremonies move to the Millennium Forum in Londonderry.
