The University’s Convocation Committee joined with the Samaritans this week to launch a new poster promoting the confidential, 24-hour support services the Samaritans provide.

Convocation Committee member, Anne Rowe said: “The Convocation Committee is the graduate voice of the University and takes an active interest in the undergraduate community as the future alumni. Members realise that university life is an exciting time in any young person’s life but it can also be challenging. This new poster draws attention to the emotional support that the Samaritans offer to all those who are distressed or even suicidal.”

Wilma Moulden, Director of the Samaritan’s Coleraine branch added: “We are grateful for the support of the Convocation Committee of the University of Ulster. The branch has volunteers from the student body and also from the staff. The poster campaign will emphasise our 24-hour availability of confidential, emotional support for those who are finding university life overwhelming.”

Samaritans may be contacted by telephone (08457 90 90 90) or by email jo@samaritans.org or by visiting your local branch.

The poster is sponsored by the Convocation Committee and will be on display around all the University’s campuses.
