UU Presents Big Band Jazz Evening

5th December 2005

The glamour of the bygone ‘big band’ era will be brought back to life next week when the University’s Big Band present a special late night concert in Sandinos Bar.

Under the baton of Frank Lyons, lecturer in music at UU, the 25-piece group will present an entertaining programme of jazz by Gershwin and Monk as well as more contemporary pieces by Hubbard and Zawinul.

Joining the band for the evening will be special guests Gay McIntyre on saxophone and clarinet with former Eurovision Song Contest entrant Bronagh Mullan on vocals. Bronagh successfully juggles a professional singing career with her postgraduate music studies at the University.

The Big Band will be on stage at Sandino's Bar, Derry city, from 10pm on Thursday 8 December .  Tickets are available on the door.
