The University's Magee campus will next year play host to Ireland's premier Japanese Animation ('Animé') Convention and to one of its most well known contributors. Mrs Tiffany Grant, of Houston, Texas, became most well known for her portrayal of 'Asuka' in the cult Animé series 'Neon Genesis Evangelion' but since has featured in hundreds of series and films.

She will be guest of honour at TOMO-DACHI 2006, Ireland's largest Animé convention which takes place in Northern Ireland next July. The Convention, following the success of Tomo-Dachi 2005, the first Animé Convention in Ireland, will also offer an impressive list of guests including Animé Academia, Jonathan Clements and representatives of Manga Entertainment, ADV Films and TokyoPop Publications.

The Convention will run over three days, 7th, 8th, and 9th July 2006, and will offer multiple screening rooms, including exclusive and Premiere screening, large video and card gaming areas with competitions, and free play. A massive dealer hall will be packed out with dozens of dealers and businesses. In the evening there shall also be live music, disco, and Q&A sessions with our guests. Further details are available at http://www.td-con.com.

Colin Palin, Tomo-Dachi's Convention Director said,"We are very excited about TOMO-DACHI 2006. Animé's popularity has kept growing in the UK and Ireland and this is our opportunity to bring fans from all over our two islands together. We want to put on a show that is out of this world."

Mrs Grant was quoted as saying she was very much looking forward to coming to Ireland and meeting the Irish fans of Animé!
