News Release

Executive Success for UU Graduate Pamela

3rd April 2006

One of the University of Ulster’s top computer graduates last year has gone on to establish a successful executive recruitment consultancy company in Dublin.

On completion of her BSc (Hons) Computing course at the School of Computing and Information Engineering (CIE), Coleraine, mature student Pamela Dunne scooped two honours for outstanding achievement.

She received the Kainos prize for the top project of the year which involved the design and implementation of an educational game for returning students to recap core material on Java. She was also the top student overall and nominated for the British Computer Society Silver Medal.

The award winning project challenged current education methods and highlighted that educational computer games were a successful and popular means of teaching, even at higher levels.

While studying for her degree at Coleraine, Pamela was also working with her partner, Patrick Laheen to set up Hunter Lynch Associates, an executive recruitment consultancy firm based in Ballsbridge, Dubin.

Dr Michaela Black, Lecturer in Computer Science said: “Pamela has demonstrated many talents.  She entered the course as a mature student, returning to education after a time in the work place.  She brought great determination and a wide spectrum of skills to the course which enabled her to meet its challenging demands. She has proved that women can, and will continue to be very successful in engineering.”

Based in Dublin, Hunter Lynch has quickly grown to become a trusted advisor to clients by building high performance teams through the identification of management and executive talent.

In addition to executive search, Hunter Lynch serve as consultants to clients on all matters pertaining to human capital needs, including succession planning, compensation assessment, recruitment strategies and competitive analyses.

Pamela said: “I am certain that the knowledge I have gained from my degree will be invaluable to the future success of Hunter Lynch. The application of cutting edge information technology will form a crucial part in the delivery of outstanding services to our clients.”
