Cinemagic Success For UU Students

Three Media Arts students from the University’s Coleraine campus have won places on the prestigious Talent Lab program run by Cinemagic. 

Cinemagic is a Belfast-based charity that embraces the magic of film, television and digital technologies to educate, motivate and inspire young people through the medium of workshops, film screenings and industry led masterclasses. 

The Talent Lab masterclasses will provide the winning students with advice and hands on experience in various cinematic disciplines such as acting, directing, producing, scriptwriting, presenting, and costume design.

Kerry Reid, Deborah McEntee and Daireen Gill will take part in a three-day workshop with the Northern Ireland Tourist Board and FireIMC, one of the top integrated communications agencies in Northern Ireland. The unique class which will offer budding advertising executives the opportunity to find out if they have the skills to make it in the advertising world. 

The students will also take part in an ad design competition, with the winning entry being shown at the closing night of the Cinemagic Film Festival

Media Arts lecture Helen Jackson said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Kerry, Deborah and Daireen and I wish to congratulate them on their courage and conviction in applying for this programme where they would have been up against stiff competition. This is a great opportunity for them to meet and work with industry professionals and put into practice their production skills gained from the Media Arts course.”
