Renowned Animation Designer Set For UU

The University of Ulster is set to welcome one of the world’s most celebrated animation designers and model makers.
Jan Sanger has been involved in 3D animation and film-making for more than 20 years. Her most recent role was as head of the model making department at Aardman Features. She was the model making production designer on their feature films, Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit the Curse of the Wererabbit.
Jan is giving a public presentation on Wednesday 29 November in the Belfast campus lecture theatre at 10.15am.
She will give an introduction to the involvement and making of 3D animated features, with particular reference to the award-winning 2006 feature, Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Wererabbit.
Jan will also offer insights into animated television commercials; short films and feature scale productions; the processes associated with the work of the production team and production processes, as well as character design from initial script idea to finished model. Jan will be bringing with her the original puppets from Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit.
The event is part of the University’s Creativity Zone programme which is running over the coming five weeks.
This project is part financed by the European Union through the Programme for Peace and Reconciliation managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by the Department for Social Development.
