Red Or Dead Founder Set For UU

7th December 2006

The University of Ulster is hosting a visit by the Red or Dead Founder, Wayne Hemingway.

Hemingway is an acclaimed designer and co-founder of the highly successful Red or Dead fashion label which won the British Fashion Council’s ‘Street Style Designer of the Year’ award three times in a row in the late 90’s.

He is now at the helm of Hemingway Design, a design and consultancy business specialising in affordable and social design.

Tim Kerr, Cultural Development Officer at the University of Ulster said: “Earlier this year Wayne held packed audiences with his spell-binding and forthright views on a range of design topics.

"One of his current projects is an online resource called ‘Land of Lost Content’, the world’s largest archive of 20th and 21st century popular culture. His ‘rags to riches’ tale via the world’s catwalks is one worth hearing and his latter-day position as a design agent provocateur adds some hot spice to his plain-spoken approach.”

The presentation is taking place on Friday 08 December at 9.30 am in the Lecture Theatre, University of Ulster, York St, Belfast

Admission is free but places are limited. To reserve a place contact Louise Loughran: 9026 7287 or email: lm.loughran@ulster.ac.uk
