Ulster Orchestra Pre-Concert Talk

Musician and broadcaster Andrea Rea will give a pre-concert talk in advance of the Ulster Orchestra’s Viennese Johann Strauss gala at the University’s Coleraine campus.

The talk will put the music and song of Vienna in context, looking at the lives and works of the waltz kings.        

Andrea Rea is an American musician and journalist who has lived in Northern Ireland for nearly 25 years.  She writes a weekly classical music column for the Newsletter and is a frequent contributor to BBC Radio Ulster.

As a performer she has worked with a number of groups as a violinist/violist, including the Phil Coulter Orchestra, Belfast Baroque Consort, Castleward Opera and her own quintet, Avalon.  

The pre-concert talk, sponsored by Arts and Business New Partners and firmus energy, will take place on at 7.15pm in Lecture Theatre 8, Central Buildings, University of Ulster, Coleraine on Wednesday 3 January 2007. 

Admission to the talk is free and everyone is welcome but as seating is limited advance booking is advisable.  To reserve seats for the pre-concert talk contact the Cultural Development Office on 028 7032 4449. 

The Viennese Gala, presented by Sean Rafferty, will take place in the Diamond at 8.00pm.  Tickets can be purchased in the Riverside Theatre and Coleraine Tourist Information Centre.
