A draw organised by Residential Services has raised over £1,150 for the Causeway Down's Syndrome Support Group.

The traditional close links between the Accommodation Office and the group were demonstrated by the success of the fund-raising effort.

Staff, including those who work with the university’s residential partners, have played a major part in ensuring the draw’s popularity.

Sally Campbell, a member of the housekeeping team spent hours making a tasty-looking Christmas cake, and a representative of Circuit Laundry arrived with a bottle of brandy for the draw.

All the accommodation partners, including NM Developments, Silverline Developments and Turkington’s Construction, have provided very generous prizes, as have other local contractors and businesses.

Joan Christie, a member of staff and active member of the Down's syndrome group, says "We've been overwhelmed by the generosity of donors and the contributions of staff and students who have bought ballots."
