Tart Cherries: New Sports Superfood?
Could sour cherries help repair muscle damage? Dr Malachy McHugh, Director of Research at the Nicholas Sports Medicine Institute at Lennox Hill Hospital in New York, examines the evidence in the first in a series of six lectures from the School of Sports Studies and the Sports Council for Northern Ireland.
Being sold online in the United States as Cherrypharm, the sour cherry juice is also being used by England rugby and Premiership soccer team Tottenham Hotspur FC.
A graduate of UU, Dr McHugh is Director of Research at the Nicholas Sports Medicine Institute at Lennox Hill Hospital in New York.
