Design Company Shares Secrets of Success
CuteCircuit, the company whose product was named as one of the Best Inventions of the Year by TIME Magazine, is to give a presentation at the University of Ulster.
CuteCircuit is an interaction design and wearable technology company and its award-winning ‘Hug Shirt’ is a wearable Bluetooth accessory for your mobile phone - allowing the wearer to exchange the sensation of being hugged over distance through telecommunication networks.Cute Circuit are visiting Belfast as part of the Kinetic Spaces programme run by the Visual Communications course at the University of Ulster.
Liam McComish, Course Director said: “CuteCircuit is at the forefront of hi-tech design, merging wearable computing and technology to create new horizons for personal telecommunication. The presentation by the two founding members of the company, Francesca Rosella and Ryan Genz will be an explosive combination of their highly innovative approach to design and technology along with their irrepressible exuberance and panache.”Francesca Rosella is an architect and graphic designer, and has worked as fashion designer for Esprit in Germany and Valentino in Italy. She is an expert in the development of telecommunication services, user interface design, and textile engineering.Ryan Genz is an artist, film director and anthropologist who has worked as Art Director for Signal Interactive and ASAP Media Services in United States. He specialises in motion graphics, computer programming, and wireless networks.
The company claims that it thinks this to be the greatest innovation after the personal computer and the World Wide Web. Their belief is that novel technologies and new uses of current technologies can have a huge effect on people’s lives. They want to bridge the gap between emotion and technology developing wearable interfaces, electronic textiles, telecommunication services and interactive media and installations.
The presentation is taking place in the Visual Communications Studios, University of Ulster, Belfast campus, York Street, on Monday 12 November at 6.30pm. Admission is free.
