Atsushi Tamura To Perform Lunchtime Piano Recital
The University of Ulster’s Lunchtime Concert Series continues next week with two performances by pianist, Atsushi Tamura.
Over the last two years award winning pianist Atsushi Tamura has delighted audiences nationally and internationally with his recital and concerto performances earning him a significant following.
The first concert will take place in the Octagon, Coleraine campus, on Monday 19 November and then in the Great Hall, Magee campus, on Tuesday 20 November. Both concerts start at 1.15pm and will continue until 2pm.Atsushi studied piano at the Tokyo College of Music and in 2001 was a finalist in the Piano Teachers’ Association competition in Japan; he went on to be a finalist in the prestigious Berga Piano Competition in Spain the following year.
In November 2005 he took part in the Ulster Orchestra’s Beethoven Masterclass with the acclaimed concert pianist Ronald Brautigam, and in January 2006 he gave an invitation performance and Masterclass at Putra University in Malaysia.Last semester saw acclaimed performances of Mozart’s Piano Concerto K453 with the University Orchestra. Atsushi has a Master’s degree from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and is now completing his studies at the University’s Magee campus on the PhD in Performance programme, focusing on the music of Rachmaninoff.
Tickets for both events are priced at £3 each and are available on the door.
