Distinguished Research Fellowship: Dr Craig Brown
Dr Brown, who has been awarded a Distinguished Researsch Fellowship, previously held posts with the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS) and the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) prior to taking up his current lectureship in the School of Environmental Sciences at Coleraine.
That position was created to cement collaboration between Ulster and the highly prestigious Gulf of Maine Research Institute on North America’s Atlantic coast.
Over the past six years Dr Brown has established a national and international reputation for his work on the mapping of seafloor habitats.
In 2005 he was awarded a prestigious Leverhulme Research Fellowship and spent three months working on a research project with the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) in Nova Scotia.
This has since led on to an international collaborative doctoral programme also involving a number of world leading research groups in the USA.
