Ulster Presents ‘Bard on the Road’
4th November 2008
Students from schools across Northern Ireland will gain fresh insight into Shakespeare and Chaucer texts over the next few weeks as part of a University of Ulster outreach initiative.
Organised by Ulster’s Cultural Development Department, Bard on the Road is a series of intensive one-day workshops presented by respected writer and director Peter Morgan Barnes.
The workshops, which will be delivered by Peter at ten schools across Northern Ireland, are designed to help students prepare for the rigors of the A Level curriculum and improve examination performance.
Niamh Pearce, Cultural Development Officer, said: “The main focus of each workshop will be on context and dramatic effectiveness but the workshops will also boost the students’ confidence in writing about function and motivation.
“As the workshops are so curriculum orientated it is no surprise that the response from schools has been very enthusiastic. Peter has a packed fortnight ahead travelling to schools in Derry, Limavady, Coleraine and County Down to present the workshops, so the project title of ‘Bard on the Road’ is very appropriate.”
