Global IT services company Asidua has launched a new scholarship scheme for computing and engineering students in Northern Ireland.

The £25,000 scholarship programme is open to current and new students at the University of Ulster and Queen’s University and aims to attract fresh talent to the sector. 

The scheme will see successful students each receiving a scholarship package which includes £1,000 for each academic year, a guaranteed industrial placement, an opportunity for additional part-time work during the academic year and a permanent position on graduation.

Professor Liam Maguire, Head of the School of Computing and Intelligent Systems, Magee campus, said: “The University of Ulster welcomes this tremendous scholarship opportunity from Asidua to support our computing and engineering students. The scheme builds on our links with Asidua and recognises the high calibre of our students and the employable skills we have inculcated during their studies. The scholarship not only provides financial support but it also provides work placement in a professional environment to develop and enhance practical skills.”

The closing date for the Asidua scholarship scheme is 14th November 2008 for University of Ulster students.
