Two distinguished international musicians are set to perform a concert of sonatas for violin and piano at the University of Ulster’s Coleraine campus later this month.

The Stuart-Ivanov Duo performance is part of a European tour by the American based husband and wife duo, violinist Carolyn Stuart and pianist Svetozar Ivanov.  The programme for the evening offers a rare opportunity to hear major works for violin and piano by Debussy, Janáèek and Respighi. 

American violinist Carolyn Stuart performs internationally as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician as well as maintaining a busy concert schedule as a member of the Stuart-Ivanov Duo.  She is heard regularly in prominent North American and European centers.  She also has a distinguished reputation as an interpreter of modern music and regularly collaborates with contemporary composers.

Bulgarian pianist Svetozar Ivanov has made numerous appearances as a recitalist and orchestra soloist in Europe and North America.  Alongside his performing career he has made numerous critically acclaimed recordings and is especially recognized for his creative work in designing unusual concert formats combining music with other art forms such as films, poetry, short stories and live dance.  He is also the Artistic Director of the ‘Steinway Piano Series’ in Florida and numerous other concert series throughout the U.S.   

Stuart and Ivanov are both Associate Professors, in violin and piano, at the University of South Florida.  They also present master classes at conservatories throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe and frequently serve on juries for international music competitions.
