OBE For University Council Member

University of Ulster Council member Rosemary Kelly has received an OBE in the New Year Honours list for 2009. The honour recognises her services to the arts in Northern Ireland.

In addition to her role on the University's Council, she is also Chairman of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, and a Governor of the Irish Times Trust.

A former Head of Public Affairs and Company Secretary for BBC Northern Ireland, Mrs Kelly is also Chairman of the Help the Aged charity in Northern Ireland and a Trustee of its international board in London.

She has a wide ranging record of public service as a former member of the Ofcom Content Board in London (the broadcasting regulator), Chairman of the Ormeau Baths Gallery (the contemporary art gallery in Belfast), Deputy Chairman of the Ulster Orchestra, and President of the Association of Ulster Drama Festivals. She was also a founding member of the Irish Film and Television Academy.
